District Governor Rtn. Azizul Huq appointed Rtn. PP. A. H. Kabir of Rotary Club of Agrabad as the GSR on 20 September, 1984 and entrusted him to form the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Chittagong. PDG. Mohammed A Awwal was the President of RC Agrabad during the year.

Rtn. PR A. H. Kabir carried out a classification Survey in the Metropolitan area of the City of Chittagong and prepared a classification roster for the proposed Club. This was completed on 15 October, 1984.

With the help of senior: Rotarian Rtn. PR A. K. Chowdhury of Rotary Club of Agrabad a list of 21 (twenty one) prospective Rotarians were drawn up.

An informal meeting of the persons eligible to be Rotarians called on 31st October, 1984 when it was agreed that all formalities for forming the Club should be completed.

On 1st November, 1984 GSR Rtn. PP. A. H. Kabir sent the necessary documents to the District Governor for submission to R. I. and requested the Governor for his permission to allow the Club to sit as a Provisional Club.

On 25 November, 1984 the District Governor accorded his permission to the Club to sit as a Provisional Club.

The District Governor sent the Club\'s membership application to R. I. on 20 January, 1985 and formally welcomed the Club as a Provisional Club with an invitation to join the District Conference 1985.

The Club Charter President Rtn. M. A. Matin with four other members attended the Conference in February, 1985.

The Club received its Charter on 31 May, 1985.

The Club\'s weekly Bulletin \"SHAiKAT” was 1st published on 14 August,1985.

The Club Charter was formally presented by District Governor Rtn. M. A. Wahab to the Charter President.
